Some tanker drivers across the country have expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of their current union executives ahead of the upcoming elections.
The aggrieved drivers accuse the leadership of poor representation, lack of transparency and failure to adequately address their welfare concerns, including poor working conditions and what they describe as unfair treatment at loading depots.
They are calling on the relevant stakeholders, particularly the Mother Union of Tanker Drivers, to intervene and ensure that the current executives step aside to allow for an independent investigation and audit before the elections are held.
The drivers made the call in separate interviews with the media, where they outlined their concerns about the administration of the union.
However, Chairman of the Ghana National Petroleum Tanker Drivers Union, George Nyaunu, has rejected the allegations, describing them as unfortunate.
He said he was surprised by the concerns being raised against the current executives and questioned the basis of the allegations.
Mr Nyaunu is expected to respond to the concerns and provide further clarification on the operations of the union.
