The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has settled GH¢2.3 billion, fully meeting its mandatory payment obligations to bondholders under the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP) for 2026.
In a statement issued on 1 September 2026, the Board said it had paid GH¢2,306,202,372.09 to holders of bonds affected by the DDEP, thereby completing its required settlements for the year.
This latest payment follows an earlier coupon payment of GH¢376,325,910.09 made in March 2026. Combined, the two disbursements bring the total amount paid by COCOBOD to DDEP bondholders in 2026 to GH¢2,682,582,282.18.
The Board also noted that in July 2026 it fully settled GH¢162 million owed to holders of Cocoa Bills who did not participate in the DDEP. That settlement closed COCOBOD’s outstanding obligations to the affected non-participating Cocoa Bill holders.
The statement explained that the payments demonstrate the Board’s commitment to responsible financial management and the systematic settlement of its obligations.
The moves form part of broader efforts to strengthen the financial sustainability of Ghana’s cocoa sector, under the guidance of the Ministry of Finance.
COCOBOD said the settlements were made in line with its mandatory responsibilities to investors and stakeholders in the industry.
