Goalkeeper Solomon Agbasi has announced his departure from Hearts of Oak as he closes in on a move to South African side Stellenbosch FC.
The 25-year-old leaves the Ghanaian giants after the two parties failed to agree on a new deal during the transfer window, despite Hearts’ desire to keep him.
Agbasi attracted interest from several clubs, including Ghana Premier League champions Medeama SC, but opted to continue his career abroad after receiving offers from South Africa.
In an emotional farewell posted on social media, he thanked the club, his teammates and supporters for making his spell in Accra memorable.
“My time at the club has come to an end, and I would like to thank everyone involved,” Agbasi wrote.
“Thank you to all my teammates, managers and staff along the way, and of course thank you to all the lovely fans. It’s been nothing but love from the start.
“I’ve loved every minute here, and I will miss playing in the Phobia colours.”
He also wished Hearts success in the future, adding that he hoped the club would return “where they truly belong and deserve to be.”
Agbasi made 12 appearances for the Phobians, conceding just five goals and keeping nine clean sheets during his time at the club.
His impressive performances earned him a maiden Black Stars call-up in February 2026. He was included in Ghana’s wider squad for the March friendlies against Austria, Germany and Mexico before joining the team’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Although coach Carlos Queiroz took him to the tournament as an additional goalkeeper, Agbasi was not included in Ghana’s final 26-man World Cup squad.
He later made his senior international debut against Mexico in 2026 and has one Black Stars cap.
