The management of dancehall musician Shatta Wale has broken its silence on the chaos that erupted during ShattaFest UK on Saturday, expressing deep sorrow over the crowd crush that forced organisers to cancel the show.
In a statement signed by the Shatta Movement Empire, management said the decision to cancel was made with a heavy heart, stressing that nothing mattered more than the safety of everyone who came out to celebrate.
“Following reports of a serious incident outside the venue, the difficult decision was made to cancel the event,” the statement read.
“Nothing is more important than the safety and well-being of every single person who came to celebrate music, unity, and love,” it added.
The team said it was saddened by reports of injuries and by claims that lives had been lost, though it stressed that it was still awaiting official confirmation from the relevant authorities.
“We are deeply saddened by the reports of injuries and the alleged loss of lives,” the statement continued.
“While we await official confirmation from the relevant authorities regarding all the facts, our thoughts and prayers remain with the individuals involved, their families, their friends, and everyone impacted by this heartbreaking incident.”
The team reflected on what the night was meant to be, saying Shatta Wale has always stood for the people and that his shows are built on bringing joy and unforgettable memories to fans, making it painful that a night of celebration turned into one of pain.
Management appealed for calm, urging the public and media to avoid speculation while investigators complete their work, and thanked emergency responders, security and venue staff who moved quickly to assist those affected.
It also expressed gratitude to fans who travelled from across the UK for their patience during a difficult time.
