Nigerian singer Crown Uzama, popularly known as Shallipopi, has made fresh allegations against music executive Damilola Akinwunmi, popularly known as Dapper, accusing him of forging his signature on music distribution agreements and collecting money from an international record company without his consent.
In a statement shared on social media, Shallipopi said his agreement with Dapper in 2023 was strictly for management and did not authorise the executive to enter into a 10-year distribution deal on his behalf.
He alleged that Dapper later forged his signature and attached it to a 10-year distribution contract, despite the singer already using DistroKid to distribute his music.
Shallipopi further claimed that his signature was allegedly forged a second time to facilitate an agreement with international music company Virgin Music Group.
The singer accused Dapper of receiving money from Virgin Music Group under the arrangement and allegedly failing to account to him for the funds.
He said he was instead encouraged to continue producing music on the assurance that his financial returns would come in the future.
Shallipopi said he was not making the allegations simply to engage in an online dispute, insisting that he had personally approached the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and submitted a statement regarding the matter.
He called on the EFCC, the Nigerian government, the media and the wider African public to take the allegations seriously.
The latest accusations add to an ongoing dispute between Shallipopi and Dapper Music. The singer ended his relationship with the company in December 2024, citing concerns over finances, transparency and his contractual rights. Dapper Music subsequently rejected the allegations and said it had provided accounting records and was cooperating with auditors engaged by the artiste.
Dapper has yet to publicly respond to Shallipopi’s latest allegations of signature forgery and the alleged receipt of funds from Virgin Music Group. The claims remain allegations and have not been independently established.
