Management of VIP Jeoun has broken its silence on the fire incident involving one of its coaches at Abuakwa in the Atwima Nwabiagya Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
The company confirmed that its coach, with registration number GT 6770-18, caught fire while stationary at the Abuakwa station on Saturday evening, ahead of a scheduled trip to Accra.
In a statement, management said no casualty was recorded because no passenger was on board when the incident occurred.
According to the company, conductor Kwaku Apai noticed smoke coming from the stationary coach at about 6:45 p.m. and immediately switched off the power supply.
He subsequently informed the station supervisor, who called the Ghana National Fire Service to the scene.
The coach was scheduled to commence loading and boarding passengers ahead of its 9:30 p.m. departure to Accra.
Management said a replacement coach has since been positioned to ensure that passengers can continue their journey while the relevant authorities work to establish the cause of the fire.
The company also said arrangements were being made for the removal of debris from the affected coach.
VIP Jeoun reiterated its commitment to providing safe and comfortable transportation for its passengers.
