Former Ghana defender Samuel Osei Kuffour has backed Asante Kotoko to win the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League title, putting $5,000 on his prediction.
The former Bayern Munich and AS Roma centre-back made the bold claim while interacting with football fans after a ‘Monday Stars’ football match in Accra.
Asked which team he expected to lift the league trophy, Kuffour replied: “Asante Kotoko will win the league.”
Some fans challenged the former Ghana international to put money behind his prediction, initially proposing a GHS 10,000 wager.
But Kuffour raised the stakes.
“Let’s make it $5,000. I guarantee you Kotoko will win the league,” he said.
Kuffour’s confidence comes despite Kotoko dropping points in their opening game of the campaign.
The Porcupine Warriors were held to a 2-2 draw by Ghana Premier League debutants Debibi United at Golden City Park in Berekum.
They will be looking for their first victory of the season when they host Heart of Lions at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.
The Matchday 2 fixture will give Kotoko an opportunity to respond to their opening-day setback and begin their push for the title Kuffour has backed them to win.
