Robber nearly lynched after attack on MoMo vendor at Gomoa Dabenyin

Residents of Gomoa Dabenyin in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region were thrown into panic on Tuesday night after two suspected armed robbers attacked a mobile money vendor.

The incident occurred around 9:00 pm, and one of the suspects narrowly escaped lynching after being overpowered by residents, while his accomplice managed to flee.

Police sources say the men, reportedly of Fulani origin, initially posed as customers before revealing their intentions.

One attacker snatched the vendor’s bag containing cash, mobile phones, and other valuables, while the other fired live bullets to scare off bystanders.

The victim, Millicent Nkum, told Adom News that a retired police officer nearby gave chase despite the gunfire, and residents eventually helped capture one of the robbers.

The arrested suspect is receiving treatment under police guard at the Gomoa Potsin Polyclinic, while authorities continue the manhunt for the second attacker.
