Asante Kotoko have re-signed midfielder Richard Boadu on a two-year contract as the club strengthens its squad ahead of the 2026-27 Ghana Premier League season.
The former captain completed a medical before sealing his return to the Porcupine Warriors, more than three years after leaving for Libyan side Al Ahly Benghazi in July 2023.
Boadu spent two successful seasons with Kotoko during his first spell, helping the club win its 26th Ghana Premier League title before later being appointed captain.
Speaking after his return was confirmed, the midfielder described the move as an emotional homecoming.
“I was born and raised in this city, played for the club at youth level and becoming a captain at some stage was everything to my family,” Boadu said.
“Fate has a way of working out, and I am grateful that it has given me another chance to wear these colours again to defend the club.
“I am looking forward to a successful season,” he added.
During his first stint with Kotoko, Boadu made 32 appearances across all competitions, including the CAF Champions League, and scored two goals.
After leaving Al Ahly Benghazi, he joined Al Tahaddy Sporting Club, where he featured in 21 league matches and scored once during the 2024-25 season.
Kotoko begin their 2026-27 campaign away to newly promoted Debibi United, with Boadu expected to play a key role in the team’s midfield under head coach Eric Tinkler.
