Ghana’s fashion industry is in mourning following the passing of renowned couturier, Sadia Sanusi.
Sadia reportedly passed away in the early hours of Sunday, June 14, 2026.
Although the cause of death has not yet been officially confirmed, sources indicate she reportedly passed in her sleep.
Her sudden death has shocked the Ghanaian creative and fashion industry, where she is widely celebrated as a pioneering designer who transformed her maternal textile heritage into globally inspired modern fashion.
At the time of her passing, she was preparing to mark her 10th anniversary in the fashion industry, with a masterclass scheduled for next week as part of the celebrations.
Sadia Sanusi was also known beyond the fashion runway. She was the 2nd Runner-Up in Miss Malaika Ghana 2012, where she won the Miss Talent crown for her outstanding performance.
She had her secondary education at Accra Girls’ Senior High School and later proceeded to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Design.
Friends and industry colleagues have taken to social media to mourn the innovative designer.
