Rehabilitation works have commenced on the long-troubled outer lane of the Darkuman-Hansonic Junction stretch, bringing relief to motorists and residents who have endured deteriorating road conditions for more than a decade.
The affected stretch has been a source of concern for drivers who regularly use the route, with the poor road conditions making movement difficult and raising safety concerns for motorists, pedestrians and other road users.
In response to the persistent challenges, the Ablekuma North Municipal Assembly has deployed contractors to undertake rehabilitation works aimed at addressing the road and drainage problems along the stretch.
The project officially began on Friday, August 21, 2026, with construction crews currently working on sections of the affected roadway.
The intervention is expected to improve drainage and restore the damaged road surface, providing a more durable solution to the problems that have affected the area for years.
The scope of the rehabilitation has also been extended from Atico Junction through to the Kaneshie First Light intersection.
The expansion is expected to benefit commuters and motorists who use the route regularly and ease some of the difficulties associated with the deteriorated road.
