Work has commenced on the asphalt overlay of the Berekum–Sampa road, with Rango Construction deploying equipment and personnel to the project site to begin the next phase of construction.
The 119-kilometre road project forms part of the government’s Big Push infrastructure initiative, which seeks to improve road connectivity and enhance economic activities across the country.
Drivers, commercial transport operators and residents along the stretch have welcomed the commencement of the works, describing it as a major relief after years of difficulties caused by the deteriorating condition of the road.
They expressed hope that the completion of the project would reduce travel time, minimise vehicle maintenance costs and improve the movement of goods and services between communities in the Bono and Ahafo regions.
While commending the government and the contractor for starting the asphalt overlay, some residents appealed for the project to be completed before the 2028 general elections.

They argued that several road projects across the country have suffered delays or been abandoned due to changes in government and called on successive administrations to prioritise national development over political interests.
The residents urged the government and contractors to ensure the Berekum–Sampa road is completed on schedule to provide lasting benefits for commuters, businesses and communities along the corridor.
