The 2016 Parliamentary Candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Akropong Constituency, Yaw Appiah Kubi, has condemned the attempt by the Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo led government to privatize the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
According to Mr Kubi, privatization of indigenous state companies will not be the panacea to building a self-reliant and self-sufficient local economy that creates the needed jobs that the thousands of unemployed Youth of this country need.

Mr. Appiah Kubi who was speaking on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem, Wednesday has, therefore, thrown a challenge to the President, Nana Akufo-Addo to privatize the Jubilee House if he thought that privatization would bring efficiency and positive results.
“We have sold over 400 state-owned enterprises to private individuals and companies since 1966 till today but almost all have collapsed after entering private hands”, he noted.

He noted that the side effect of religiously following the neo-liberal economic model of development for decades is what has created the army of unemployed youth that the country is currently witnessing.
“Our leaders tell us the private sector is the engine of growth and the sector to create Jobs for the youth but when they get political power they abandon their private businesses to get government Jobs. If they believe in the private sector logic they should start of at the presidency by privatizing it”, he demanded of the President.
