The Ghana Police Service has intensified preparations for the rollout of the Traffitech-GH automated traffic enforcement system, with selected personnel and key public sector partners undergoing training in the Volta Region.
The training, organised by the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) in collaboration with its private sector partner, was held on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the Stevens Hotel Conference Room in Ho.
It brought together 45 participants, including MTTD personnel from Ho and representatives of the Judicial Service, National Road Safety Authority (NRSA), National Insurance Commission (NIC) and Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA).
The session forms part of preparations to operationalise Traffitech-GH from October 1, 2026, in line with Regulation 242.
Participants were taken through the operation of the automated enforcement system, including road traffic offences and fines under Regulation 242, the implementation of Traffitech-GH and the process for contesting traffic violations.
The selected back-office team for the region also received practical training on the use of in-vehicle fixed cameras as well as handheld and tripod LaserCam4 speed cameras.
The police said the Ho training was the fifth and final session in a nationwide series of enforcement training programmes ahead of the October 1 rollout.
As part of the preparations, the Volta Regional back office has also been equipped with the updated Traffitech-GH software at the Regional MTTD Office in Ho.
The new system is expected to strengthen automated detection and enforcement of road traffic offences while improving coordination among institutions involved in road safety and traffic management.
The training also provided participants with an overview of the Road Traffic Regulations, 2026 (L.I. 2519) and the Road Traffic (Amendment) Act, 2025 (Act 1153).
