The Ghana Police Service has arrested four more individuals, including a physician assistant as investigations into the 2026 Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) alleged fraud continues.
The arrests were made in Kumasi and at the Accra Resolution Centres as authorities widen investigations into attempts to manipulate school placements.
The physician assistant at the SDA Hospital in Kumasi, Yaw Adjei Boateng, was arrested on Thursday, September 24, and questioned by officers from the Intelligence Unit.
According to information available to the Ministry of Education from the Ghana Police Service, he admitted knowing Vicentia Antwi Appiah, who allegedly approached him to help secure placement for Benedicta Yaa Edinam at Mafe Methodist Girls’ Senior High School.
According to investigators Boateng disclosed that he received GH¢8,500 from Vicentia Antwi Appiah and forwarded the money to Brian Opare Addo, an employee of the Ashanti Regional Coordinating Council, to facilitate the placement process. However, the placement was unsuccessful.
Boateng further told investigators that he later asked Opare Addo to refund the money, which was subsequently returned to the sender. He also claimed that Opare Addo had previously assisted him in securing placement for another student at St Monica’s Senior High School.
Brian Opare Addo has been invited to report to the Intelligence Unit on Monday, September 28, to assist with inquiries.
Meanwhile, two additional suspects were arrested at the Accra Resolution Centre on Friday, September 25, bringing to four the number of arrests made within the last 48 hours. Another individual has also been invited to assist with investigations.
The latest developments follow the arrest of two other individuals on September 17 over their alleged involvement in school placement fraud. Authorities say investigations are ongoing.
