Earlier reports said Wisdom was trapped in the debris of the uncompleted two-storey building but Adom News editor, Samuel Nii Narku Dowuona who visited the site Sunday morning was informed by some of Wisdom’s colleagues that he has been found dead.

The building was still under construction with up to 12 workers working on it when it collapsed.

Some of the workers who survived the collapse told Adom News that two of their colleagues sustained grave injuries and were rushed to the hospital.

A worker, Koku Akwartey, who was part of those working on the building before its collapse said they heard a cracking sound prior to the building caving in.

He said the missing worker who has now been identified as Widom left his phone on the with them on the building’s ground floor.

The workers have attributed the collapse of the building to weaknesses in pillars on one side of the building which they said had long shown signs of weakness.

Mayor of Accra, Mohammed Nii Adjei Sowah has since visited the collapsed site and has indicated that something was not done right.

He has, therefore, promised that investigations will be conducted and the right actions would be taken where necessary.
