A 45-year-old man is in critical condition after his legs were severed for stealing plantain and maize in a farm.

The victim whose name was given as Osman was allegedly beaten by a gang when he attempted to steal the plantain at Asokwa Bonsuom, a suburb in the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi

Nhyira FM’s Nana Awuku who followed the story reported that, the mob beat the man to pulp, broke all his joints and severed his legs to serve as a deterrent to others.

He indicated that, the man who could barely speak was lying on the ground with the plantain and maize packed beside him.

The perpetrators of the crime, Nana Awuku said all bolted from the scene after committing the dastardly act.

Meanwhile, police in Asokwa has begun investigation in to the matter.

  1. It’s a shame in this day and age when Ghana seems to thinks its a bench mark for the world or at least the developing world we still practise such disgusting acts. I grew up in Ghana seeing this from a very young age, I am now in my fifties and nothing has changed, we are still the backward society I grew up in except we know about Top of the range cars and houses, even that we cant manage properly.
    The root of all this, Weak Authorities who are not worthy of the name from govt to the forces. There is a new govt in place and do we think anything will change? It gets frightening by the day. Bloody animals!!!
