Photos: Fallen truck blocks Techiman-Wenchi road

A truck loaded with drink Saturday fell across the main Techiman-Wenchi road, blocking it completely.
The police say efforts to get a towing vehicle heavy enough to tow the truck have yielded no results, leaving commuters frustrated as the road is completely impassable.
A police source says “at about 7.00 pm suspect driver John Kumi in charge of a super link M/Benz Actros with registration number GN 4852-16 loaded drink was travelling from Accra to Wa.”
On reaching a section of the road near Atrensu on the Techiman-Wenchi motor road, the police explained, the truck driver “met another truck who switched on six fork lights on top of the said vehicle thereby blaring his vision.”
“As the said unknown truck was meeting him in his lane, he decided to avoid a head on collision and so swerved on his right side but lost control of the truck and fell on the passenger side across the road thereby blocking the road entirely to vehicular movement.”

According to the police, no death or injury was recorded.
The source said attempts to get a local towing service provider to remove the vehicle proved unsuccessful.
“Other towing trucks that came to assist were woefully underweight and could not do the work.”

Sources say police and Fire Service personnel have been at the scene of the accident since 8.00 pm Saturday, providing security.
Efforts are meanwhile continuing to remove the truck and clear the road.
