Some staff of Produce Buying Company (PBC) Limited on Tuesday demonstrated at the head office of the company to demand the resignation of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the Board Chairman of the company.

According to the demonstrators, for the first time in the history of the company, management of COCOBOD has failed to pay farmers for cocoa beans bought from them.

They said, the current administration is mismanaging the resources of the company, hence must be changed.

Spokesperson of the demonstrating workers, Saviour Gankul, PMSU Chairman, told Adomonline.com the CEO and Board chairman lack the skills to change the situation of the company around.

“There is no doubt they came to meet problems but what it takes to turn the fortune of the company around they lack it, the Board chairman is now very old, we cannot blame him and now he cannot control management, that’s how come the company is sinking the more,” he stated.

General Secretary of ICU, Solomon Kotei said the union earlier petitioned President Nana Akufo-Addo and the president ordered a restructuring of the company from its current state.

According to Mr Kotei, the President heard their plea and promised to give them a bailout.

“We were compelled to present a petition to the president and it was given the needed hearing last Friday, the president himself sat with us and told us the PBC will be given the needed bailout,” he added.
