Parliament will today, Monday, August 24, resume sitting following a recall by Speaker Alban Bagbin.
The special sitting comes barely a month after the House adjourned on July 31, 2026, with MPs expected to return to the Chamber to consider what the Speaker has described as urgent parliamentary business.
Speaker Bagbin invoked Order 58(4) of Parliament’s Standing Orders, which allows the Speaker to recall the House during an adjournment when circumstances require Parliament to reconvene.
The recall is expected to give lawmakers the opportunity to deliberate on pressing matters that cannot be deferred until the next scheduled sitting.
Parliament is scheduled to sit from Monday, August 24, to Friday, August 28, during the special session.
Among the key matters expected to come before the House are the nominations of Mahama Ayariga as Minister-designate for Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs, and Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings as Minister-designate for Environment, Science and Technology.
