The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has taken note of allegations of extortion and related conduct made by the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, against Minority Leader of Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin.
The OSP said it has also received a joint petition from two individuals, as well as two separate petitions from other persons, concerning the allegations.
In a public notice issued on Monday, August 24, the anti-graft agency said it will assess the case to determine whether the allegations fall within its statutory mandate.
The OSP will subsequently determine whether further investigative action is warranted.
The development follows allegations of extortion made against the Minority Leader, which have attracted public attention and calls for accountability.
