Dr Omane Boamah, former Communications Minister

Former Minister of Communications in the erstwhile Mahama administration has said the ruling New Patriotic Party cannot claim credit for Ghana’s digital transformation.

Dr Omane Boamah maintained that former President John Dramani Mahama’s understanding of a digital economy is outstanding and puts him far ahead of President Nana Akufo-Addo.

“President Mahama built the most robust and efficient infrastructure in the country since independence,” he said in a lengthy post on Facebook.

Dr Boamah’s post is to challenge the claim the Akufo-Addo-led administration is to take credit for Ghana’s digital infrastructure.

He maintained that former President Mahama’s digital interventions made life more convenient for millions of Ghanaians and enabled critical services to be extended to the needy in remote and underserved communities.

“They have also accounted for the increase in productivity and improvement of the working environment of workers in both the public and private sectors,” he added.
