The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called on the government, the Oti Regional Security Council (REGSEC) and relevant security agencies to provide clear answers on the reported disappearance of 42-year-old Fussein Mohammed, a resident of Dambai.
The party says the case, which has remained unresolved for nearly 10 months, raises serious concerns about public safety, the effectiveness of the investigation and the transparency of security agencies.
The call was made during a press engagement in Dambai led by the NPP National Secretary, Justin Frimpong Koduah.
According to the party, Mr Mohammed was allegedly abducted at about 9:00 p.m. on October 25, 2025, while returning home on a motorbike with his pregnant wife after closing from their shop.
The NPP further alleged that the incident occurred about 50 metres from the residence of the Oti Regional Minister, a detail it said makes the circumstances surrounding the disappearance even more concerning.
The party said several critical questions remain unanswered, including the whereabouts of Mr Mohammed, what exactly happened on the night of the alleged abduction and the progress made by investigators since the incident was reported.
It is therefore demanding intensified efforts to locate Mr Mohammed, identify those behind his alleged abduction and ensure that anyone found culpable is prosecuted.
The NPP warned that the continued absence of clear information could erode public confidence in the security agencies in Dambai and the wider Oti Region.
The party also raised questions about how the alleged perpetrators could have escaped detection, given the location and circumstances of the reported incident.
It said the disappearance allegedly occurred along a principal route, while the ferry was not operational at the time. The NPP further claimed that the alternative route towards Nkwanta, about eight kilometres away, had three security checkpoints in operation that night.
The party is consequently seeking clarification on whether checkpoint records have been reviewed and officers who were on duty interviewed.
It also wants to know whether leads provided by residents and potential witnesses have been thoroughly pursued, and whether CCTV footage from the area and along possible routes has been retrieved, preserved and subjected to forensic analysis.
The NPP has further asked the Oti Regional Security Council to explain the steps it has taken to coordinate efforts to resolve the case and provide the family with answers.
The party stressed that the authorities must deploy every available investigative resource to establish the whereabouts of Mr Mohammed and bring closure to his family.
It said every Ghanaian, regardless of their background or location, deserves equal protection under the law and the assurance that disappearances of citizens will be treated with the urgency they deserve.
