The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has postponed its planned changes to the party constitution, saying delegates do not have enough time to consider them while also electing new national officers.
Acting National Chairman Danquah Smith Buttey announced the postponement at the National Delegates Conference in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3.
He said the amendments would be deferred to a later conference to give delegates adequate time to consider the proposals.
The party says fewer than 20 amendments are involved. and they include proposals left unfinished from the January 2026 constitutional amendment conference in Accra, as well as new ones that need further review before delegates can approve them.
One of the proposals concerns who is recognised as the leader of the party. At the January 31 conference, the NPP introduced a clause that designates the National Chairman as the party leader in all respects.
The party will take up the outstanding amendments at its next conference, while this one concentrates on electing the new national executives.
