The reconstruction of the Nkawkaw Central Market is progressing steadily, with contractors expressing confidence that the project will be completed within the scheduled eight-month period.

However, site managers are appealing to traders to help create easier access to the construction site to facilitate the delivery of building materials.

According to the Site Engineer, Alahassan Fisal Matthew, construction is progressing well and the contractor remains committed to completing the project within the stipulated eight months.

He explained, however, that one of the major challenges facing the project is the difficulty in accessing the construction site.

The engineer noted that some traders have occupied the entrance leading to the site, making it difficult for trucks and other vehicles carrying construction materials to gain access.

He therefore appealed to market women and traders to cooperate with the contractors by keeping the entrance clear to avoid accidents and help speed up the work.

Meanwhile, members of the Building Committee from the Obomeng Chief’s Palace paid a visit to the site to inspect the progress of work.

Speaking after the inspection, the leader of the committee and Benkumhene of Kwahu Obomeng, Nana Osei Kissi, expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work being undertaken.

He stated that the project is on schedule and urged traders to remain patient as the contractor works towards completing the market facility.

Nana Osei Kissi assured the public that the completed market will provide a more conducive environment for trading and improve economic activities in Nkawkaw.
