The majority in Parliament has dismissed concerns that plans to use money meant for the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) to build new health training facilities amounts to misappropriation.
The concerns were raised by Deputy Minority Spokesperson on Health, Dr. Robert Kuganab-Lem, who says there are other ventures that the money could be pumped in.

“We want money to pay bills…there is a hospital in the Central Region that has not been paid for 15 months,” he alleged.
“How do you want this hospital to operate,” Dr. Kuganab-Lem quizzed.
He was also worried that there was no account for the monies collected and insisted that the money is given to the NHIS.
“We don’t know the monies collected…it must be given to the NHIS so that it operates. Now in this current formula, we have money that the NHIS is giving for the construction of a nursing school…”
His concerns were however dismissed by Chairman of Parliament’s Health Committee, Dr. Kwabena Twum Nuamah, who says the venture is a fruitful one.
According to him, the venture will go a long way in disease prevention.

“One of the strategies of the NHIS should be helping to prevent diseases so that they don’t increase their expenditure,” he said.
Explaining his point, the Berekum East Member of Parliament said: “when your clients are sick all the time, you have to pay more but if you put in steps so they don’t fall sick at all then you have a breathing space”.
“So I think what the authority is doing is rather being smart so that they will not sit down for more illnesses to occur to incur more debts for them to pay,” he said.

  2. When would Ghanaians and for that reason, Africans know that because of the hot sun, we lose some amount of fluid from the body so instead of four liters or one gallon of water a day , we should even drink more. Are we not aware that the body is seventy percent water? If we are aware then it goes to say that, Diet, Exercise, Rest and others constitute the remaining thirty percent. I guess you see the important role water plays in the body.God or Allah created a tool for problem resolution and that is the Brain so that you do not go looking for Him under things that had been created or made by men. Creative Minds provide solutions to problems and all that the Brain needs is seventy percent of water from your body to function correctly. The older generation even improved it further when they used their chewing stick thereby exercising the facial veins but now we do same with chew gum which rather adds chemicals to the body thereby reversing the benefit and even pose a threat to the Brain by making it work in an acidic environment just as when we are taking in more processed food like tinned, canned and others instead of natural food like green leaves, fruits, vegetables and others. It takes the Brain to be given the seventy percent water from the body to let those who are wearing the Winter Clothing in this hot sun to know they do not belong here because that is not meant for here. They are putting further burden on the Brain. Why are we sick? Has anyone bothered about it and we want the same sick people to pay more tax. Everything in Ghana is almost about chemicals. Bananas are forced to ripe by the use of carbide, tomatoes, mangoes, pineapples and others are produced with chemicals. The almighty Galamsey also pose threat to the water we drink. Almighty Allah or God made the sea alkaline which is medicine and so the salt from the sea is alkaline and that was what was making our food alkaline to protect us by neutralizing the chemical content. We are now wiser so what has been created by God or Allah is no more perfect but that made by men. You would continue to be sick and in your confused state be looking for solutions under trees and structures built by men. http://www.ebnanotech.com
