The National Election Security Task Force (NESTF) is set to support the Electoral Commission (EC) to ensure security at polling and coalition centres throughout the country as local level elections begin today.

The security services have deployed a total of 48,000 personnel in the bid to ensure smooth conduct of the District Assembly and Unit Committee elections without any hindrance of a sort.

In a statement signed by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, David Eklu, it said: “NESTF has deployed personnel from the Ghana Police Service, Ghana Prisons Service, Ghana Immigration Service and the Ghana National Fire Service as well as the Customs Division while personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces will be on standby”.
