The Agona West Branch Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prince Aboagye, has appeared before the Accra Circuit Court over alleged remarks made against former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on social media.
Prince Aboagye arrived at the court today as he faces allegations relating to comments deemed offensive against the former Vice President, with investigations ongoing.
He is alleged to have branded Bawumia as an infidel unfit for president.
His appearance comes amid growing public attention on cases involving alleged offensive statements against political figures, particularly on social media platforms.
The development follows the recent re-arrest of Aminat Mahama, popularly known as ‘Bawumia Ba,’ who was brought before the same court over allegations that she repeated offensive remarks against President John Dramani Mahama after being granted bail in an earlier matter.
Aminat Mahama was previously arrested by the Police over alleged offensive comments and threats directed at President Mahama in videos circulated on social media.
Her latest court appearance, coupled with the case involving Prince Aboagye, has renewed discussions around political commentary, social media expression and the limits of public speech in Ghana’s political space.
