Aspiring National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), John Boadu, has accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government of failing to deliver on key campaign promises, particularly its flagship 24-hour economy policy.
Speaking after filing his nomination at the NPP’s national headquarters, Mr Boadu questioned the government’s progress in implementing the initiative, arguing that it had yet to demonstrate meaningful results.
“The NDC promised Ghanaians a 24-hour economy, but they cannot deliver even one hour of what they promised,” he said.
He said the government had also fallen short on several other commitments made to Ghanaians, arguing that the NPP must rebuild public confidence and position itself to win the 2028 general elections.
Mr Boadu further criticised the government’s approach to illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey, accusing it of failing to fulfil its pledge to tackle the practice.
He expressed concern about the impact of illegal mining on communities, particularly in parts of the Eastern Region, where he said some residents faced the threat of losing their homes and lands.
According to him, the NPP needs strong and credible leadership to reconnect with voters, address the country’s challenges and restore the party’s fortunes ahead of the 2028 elections.
Mr Boadu is contesting the NPP National Chairmanship position and formally submitted his nomination on Thursday, August 27, ahead of the party’s national executive elections scheduled for October 3.
