Kwadwo Anim, owner of Obaatanpa Radio in Kasoa, has strongly pushed back against claims by the Central Regional National Democratic Congress (NDC) Chairman, Richard Asiedu, insisting that his workers did not lock the station during Thursday’s incident.

In an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem, Mr. Anim clarified how events unfolded when Mr. Asiedu, the Awutu Senya East MCE, Seth Banini and their team arrived at the station.

“When the NDC Chairman came with the MCE and bodyguards, the guys locked the gates and gave the keys to the chairman. So it wasn’t true that it was any of the workers who locked the station,” he stated.

He emphasised that the Chairman’s actions contradicted claims that he came in peace.

“It is not true he came in peace because he has made certain pronouncements on radio… So far as he is the chairman, he won’t sit idle and will send his boys to come, and it will not augur well,” Anim said.

Mr. Anim praised the police for their professionalism during the tense situation.

“The police took the keys from the chairman. The police were very professional, and they were even the ones that took the keys from the NDC Chairman,” he said.

He expressed confidence that the ongoing police investigation would establish the truth.

“I believe as the investigation is ongoing, the police will do the work for the truth to prevail and guide the way forward,” Anim added.

The radio owner also responded to the Chairman’s accusation that the station was tarnishing the image of the NDC and the Awutu Senya East MP, Phyllis Naa Koryoo.

The incident, which occurred while the station was discussing internal NDC issues in Kasoa, has heightened concerns about press freedom and political tolerance in the area.
