Fashion entrepreneur Richard Brown, popularly known as Osebo the Zaraman, has revealed that his neat dressing and sense of style earned him the position of boys’ prefect at Awuku Darko Senior High School in Suhum.
Speaking on The Career Trail programme on Joy Learning TV and Joy News, Osebo explained that although he came from a modest background, he always ensured he looked presentable.
“My fashion didn’t start today. Even as a student, I made sure I dressed well. I didn’t really have much money, but with the little I had, I would go to Kantamanto to buy nice outfits. The way I dressed gave me an advantage. I was neat, and that’s why they chose me as the boys’ prefect,” he recalled.
He added that his calm and disciplined nature also contributed to his election.
“Back then, I was very reserved and calm. People may see me as loud on social media today, but that’s only because you need tough skin to survive there. In school, I was actually very quiet,” he said.
Once elected, Osebo said he enforced rules fairly. “Even if you were my brother and came late, I would still punish you. I didn’t show favoritism. The right thing had to be done at the right time,” he stressed.
Balancing leadership with academics, he noted, was not difficult because he remained focused.
“When I went to school, I knew I was there to study. Even during break, after eating, I would open my Bible or work on assignments. I took my studies seriously,” he added.
Today, Osebo is known for his daring fashion choices, a journey he says began with his early appreciation for neat dressing as a student.
