News of the President ordering the arrest of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kwesi Nyantakyi, came as a shock to many people as it is widely believed that the former is a close friend of the latter.

The Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service are currently in a hunt for Mr. Nyantakyi who, we are told, is out of the country’s jurisdiction.

He is expected to be charged with defrauding by false pretense and locked up once the police pick him up.

A few hours before the news broke, some reports have quoted renowned Ghanaian journalist, Kwame Sefa Kayi, as saying the Anas exposé captures president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Vice President Bawumia and the current minister of Youth and Sports, Isaac Kwame Asiamah.

Since the news broke, many in the football fraternity have wondered why the man who claimed to be an ally of President Akufo-Addo will be hunted by police.

Explaining the issuance of the order for the arrest of the GFA President, ace Sports Journalist, Garry Al Smith, said two reasons can be cited as the reason for Nyantakyi’s arrest.

According to him, two main reasons can be assigned for the arrest.

“The President cannot wait for the Anas’ video to come out for Kwesi Nyantakyi to destroy the integrity of the Presidency…,” he said.

Another reason, according to him, is that the President cannot afford to sacrifice the presidency he has spent years fighting for to save Nyantakyi.

“This is a President who has spent his life fighting for the Presidency, his family has done so and he cannot wait for this video to come out and denigrate him…,” he said.

He further claimed that the President also undertook the action to ‘take the wind out of the sail of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).’

  1. Just like Opuni receiving abnormally huge salary of over 70,000 Ghc per month and just like Wayomi receiving a fraudulent judgement debt of at least 51 million Ghana Cedis, so has Kwasi Nyantakyi been very corrupt at the GFA. These people have been very bold in their corrupt activities because they actually have the backing of the corrupt presidency at the flagstaff house. Opuni, Wayomi and Nyantakyi all contributed a huge portion of the proceeds of their corrupt activities secretly into the party accounts of the government in power. A huge part of Opuni’s corrupt embezzled public funds went directly into NDC accounts to fund the party. Another huge part of Wayomi’s fraudulently obtained 51 million Ghana Cedis went into NDC party account to fund the party. Akwsi Nyantakyi did same – He brokered deals and sent some of the money to Fund the NDC party during Mahama’s regime. In Nana Addo’s time too, Nyantakyi sought to broker deals and give kick-backs to Nana Addo’s NPP party. Unfortunately, this time, Nyantakyi has been exposed by Anas so it is very natural for Nana Addo to quickly disassociate himself from Nyantakyi. As the saying goes, there is no smoke without fire. Nana Addo would have surely benefited from the deal or he may have already even began benefiting from Nyantakyi’s corrupt practices. I am sure Nyantakyi has been sending huge amount of money into NPP party coffers and I am sure Nana Addo was well in support of that. But since Anas has exposed Nyantakyi. every one involved is running for cover and Nana Addo want to pretend that he dont know anything about it. If Anas is really telling the whole truth, we would see that Nana Addo is indeed part of this disgraceful corrupt deal. After all was it not Nana Addo’s jubilee house/Presidency that charged 20,000 dollars for job applications??? Was it not Nana Addo’s presidency that charged 100,000 dollars from those eager to sit and dine with Nana Addo at a public event??? Tweaaaaaaa, there is no smoke without fire. Akwasi Nyantakyi must confess and tell all the truth and name those at the presidency who are his accomplices – there are many many of them and Nana Addo might likely be one of them.
