Member of Parliament for Tema East, Nii Kwartei Titus-Glover is calling for stiffer punishment for perpetrators in the renewed Konkomba, Chokosi conflict in the Chereponi District of the North East region.
Describing those behind the riot as “conflict contractors”, he said there was the need for the government to review the gun amnesty system in order to seize illegal guns from citizens, especially in those communities.

“I know the police have arrested some people and are processing them for court. They should be fast about it. They need to be punished to prevent conflict contractors from causing mayhem always else we would always talk about these fights.

“Also gun amnesty should come back like Former President Kufuor did. I would talk to the President to review this system so that guns can be retrieved from all those who are possessing guns illegally,” he noted.
Mr Titus-Glover was speaking on Adom FM’s morning show ‘Dwaso Nsem‘ Monday.

To the Deputy Transport Minister, the punishment when meted out to those behind the violence as well as perpetrators would serve as a deterrent to others who are planning same.
