A motorcyclist has died following a severe road traffic collision involving three vehicles on Saturday, June 13, in front of the Rashid Sumaila Washing Bay along the University of Cape Coast stretch of the Cape Coast–Takoradi Highway.
According to a Facebook post by the Ghana National Fire Service, the crash occurred at about 16:48 pm and involved a Boxer motorcycle (registration M-26-WR), a Toyota Corolla (CR 44-22), and a Daewoo Metro Mass Transit bus (GS 5267-20). The impact resulted in the instant death of the motor rider.
Personnel from the UCC Fire Station responded promptly to the scene, securing the area, managing traffic flow along the busy corridor, and clearing debris to restore normal movement.
The police later took over the scene and conveyed the body of the deceased to the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital for preservation and further examination.
Preliminary eyewitness accounts suggest the motorcycle first collided with the side of the Toyota Corolla, throwing the rider onto the roadway, after which he was reportedly run over by the oncoming Metro Mass bus, leading to his immediate death.
The Cape Coast–Takoradi Highway was partially disrupted as emergency teams worked to clear the scene and ease traffic congestion. The motorcycle sustained extensive damage, while both the Toyota Corolla and the Metro Mass bus were also affected.
Authorities have launched investigations to determine the exact cause of the crash, with police expected to release further details after a full reconstruction of the incident.
