At age 62, Mama Doris is celebrating a milestone she once thought might never happen. The new mother marked her birthday in a hospital, not in celebration of age alone, but in gratitude after welcoming her first child following years of battling infertility.
Mama Doris delivered a baby girl on July 3, 2026, after undergoing an advanced in vitro fertilisation (IVF) treatment supported by stem cell technology, a journey she describes as one of faith and unwavering perseverance.
Her path to motherhood was not easy. For years, she struggled with infertility, underwent multiple fibroid surgeries and was repeatedly told that her age could make conception extremely difficult.
She recalled that after losing hope at several points, she turned to prayer and continued believing that motherhood was still possible.
“I had cried, and as I slept on my bed, something urged me to keep worshipping,” she recounted.
Her IVF journey officially began in April 2023 after she contacted a medical facility and was scheduled for an appointment on April 6.
According to Mama Doris, she and her late husband had explored several options over the years, but many medical professionals had expressed concerns about her chances of conceiving because of her age.
However, she said her doctor encouraged her to pursue IVF, explaining that advances in reproductive technology, coupled with her medical history, provided a possible pathway to motherhood.
Although surrogacy was presented as another option, Mama Doris said she remained determined to carry her own child, a wish that has finally come to fruition.
She praised the doctors, nurses and medical team who supported her throughout the process, as she described their dedication and compassion as a major source of encouragement during the long journey.
After years of medical challenges and emotional battles, Mama Doris recounted the sheer, unexplainable joy she had when she finally held her daughter in her arms.
Her story has since inspired many of the power of advanced technology and determination in the face of seemingly impossible odds.
