Ghana Premier League champions Medeama SC have set their sights on reaching the group stage of the 2026/27 CAF Champions League as they prepare to represent the country in Africa’s premier club competition.
The Tarkwa-based club secured their place in the tournament after winning the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League title and are determined to make a strong impression rather than merely participate.
Medeama Communications Director Benjamin Graham said the club’s ambition is to compete with Africa’s top teams and establish themselves as a force on the continent.
Speaking on Akoma FM, Graham said the Yellow and Mauve outfit has a clear objective of reaching the group stage and challenging some of Africa’s biggest clubs.
“Our ambition is to reach the group stage of the CAF Champions League and compete at the highest level against some of Africa’s biggest clubs,” Graham said.
As part of preparations for the continental campaign, Medeama have allocated a budget of $1.5 million to strengthen the squad and enhance the club’s operations.
Graham said the financial commitment reflects the club’s determination to compete effectively against Africa’s elite.
“Our budget for the CAF Champions League campaign alone is $1.5 million, which reflects our level of commitment and our ambition to make a deep run in the competition,” he stated.
The 2026/27 CAF inter-club competitions are scheduled to begin in the first week of September, with Medeama carrying Ghana’s hopes in the CAF Champions League following their domestic league triumph.
