Medeama SC president Moses Armah has revealed that the club considered signing Hearts of Oak midfielder Solomon Agbesi but abandoned the move after failing to meet the player’s financial demands.
Speaking in an interview with Medeama FM, Armah said the Ghana Premier League champions held discussions with Agbesi’s representatives as part of efforts to strengthen the squad ahead of the 2026/27 season.
According to him, the negotiations broke down because the midfielder’s financial demands exceeded what the Tarkwa-based club was prepared to spend.
“We contacted Solomon Agbesi’s camp regarding a possible move from Hearts of Oak to Medeama Sporting Club, but his asking price was above our budget,” Armah said.
He stressed that while Medeama remain committed to strengthening the squad, the club will not compromise its financial principles in pursuit of new signings.
Armah said the decision to walk away from the deal reflects the club’s commitment to responsible spending as it prepares to compete on both the domestic and continental fronts.
Medeama qualified for the 2026/27 CAF Champions League after winning last season’s Ghana Premier League title and are expected to bolster their squad ahead of the new campaign.
