The taxi driver who allegedly held captive and defiled an 11-year-old girl for five days at Beach Comba, Nungua, has been granted bail in the sum of GHC30,000 with three sureties by an Accra Circuit Court.

Prince Samuel Adzoktsi, 47, who had earlier pleaded not guilty, was charged with defilement of a child under 16 years by the court, presided over by Mrs Abena Oppong-Adjin Doku.

The case is adjourned to May 14, 2018 for hearing.

Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Kofi Atimbre told the court that on February 18, 2018, the victim was sent by her mother to collect money from her father that morning.

The victim left home and did not return and this made her mother to panic and report to the Osu Police Station.

On the third day the victim returned home and her mother (complainant), took her to the police station.

According to the prosecutor, at the police station, the victim was interrogated and she confessed she has been living with Prince and that during her stay with him, the accused slept with her.

“Upon this revelation, a police medical form was issued to the complainant to take the victim to the hospital for treatment and full medical report to be submitted on her,” the prosecutor said.

An extract of occurrence and the medical form were sent to the Nungua Police Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU).

After an investigation, Prince was arrested by the Nungua Police.
