Member of Parliament (MP) for Yapei/Kusawgu in the Northern Region has said that he is confident the good works of the Mahama administration would make Ghanaians return the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party to power in 2020.

John Jinapor speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen Programme Friday said he is very confident of victory for the party in the elections which is four years away.

“I am very confident the NDC is coming to power in 2020, the good works of President Mahama would bring us back and I am very confident about that…,” he said.

The NDC lost woefully in the 2016 elections. The party’s candidate, former President John Dramani Mahama polled 44.4% as against Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s 53.8%.

Barely a week after the inauguration of President Akufo-Addo, the former deputy energy minister says he is confident Ghanaians would want the party back in 2020.

A younger brother of the former President, Ibrahim Mahama told selected journalists in Accra last week that his brother was going to retire from politics.

This announcement, reports indicate caused the minority MPs to pay a courtesy call on the former President to convince him not to heed the advice from his family.

But John Jinapor said the minority MPs during a visit to the former President never touched on that.

He further maintained that it would be out of place to write off ‘a party like the NDC that has won four major elections’, promising that would be a basis for their strong comeback in 2020.
