Ghana’s High Commissioner to South Africa, George Ayisi-Boateng, following the unrest in South Africa over xenophobic attacks, has assured Ghanaians in South Africa are safe.
According to Mr Ayisi- Boateng, the Commission is working on contingency measures to ensure Ghanaians are safe if need be.
Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, he disclosed that the situation is being monitored closely and urged Ghanaians in South Africa to do likewise and stay away from violence prone area.

“Let’s remain calm; Ghanaians in South Africa are safe but let’s keep praying for South Africa and the foreign nationals within.
“The situation is not that scary like it is being reported because if it was so, you would have heard reports from us but most of the videos circulating on social media with people set on fire and few others are old videos that have resurfaced,” he assured.

“I doubt there can be more foreigners than citizens in a country because even per our records, we have not more than 600 Ghanaians in South,” he added.
