The Chairman of the Ghanaian Association at Kempton Park in South Africa, Wofa Atta has dismissed reports that there are Ghanaian casualties among the victims in the ongoing xenophobic attacks in Johannesburg and other cities in South Africa.
According to him, one Ghanaian who got injured when violence broke out is currently recovering.
He called on Ghanaians to remember them in prayers.

“We have made calls to check on Ghanaians in other cities but I can state that there is no record of death or killing of Ghanaians. What we know is that those dead are rather Malawians and Zimbabweans but not Ghanaians.
“We have contacted our branches and I can tell you nothing of that sort has happened to Ghanaians,” he told Accra based Okay FM, monitored by Adomonline.com.

Dozens of people were arrested in Johannesburg on Monday. At least five people have been killed in the unrest.
Several African governments have issued warnings to their citizens over the violence.

Government of Ghana has joined other African countries in condemning the ongoing xenophobic attacks in Johannesburg and other cities in South Africa.
