Former Black Stars Coach, Kwesi Appiah has paid tribute to legendary local coach, Emmanuel Kwasi Afranie.

Coach Afranie suffered mild stroke and later died when the ambulance transferring him from Accra to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospitalin Kumasi was involved in a fatal accident.

Sudan-based trainer, Kwesi Appiah said he could not control his emotions when he heard the news.

”It was very difficult for me to control my emotions when I heard his sudden death. I used to talk to him even on his sick bed when I was in Sudan. He is inspirational to me and has given me loads of advice. A true legend is gone,” Appiah said.

“Veteran Afranie was a manager we all drew inspiration from and I believe it is about time we took the coaches association in Ghana serious so we can take care of our coaches in times like this”, he added.

Kwesi Appiah was adjudged the best coach in Sudan after guiding premier league side, Al Khartoum to the fifth position in the just ended Sudanese league.
