The Bono East Regional Police Administration has temporarily closed the Kwame-Danso Police Station in the Sene West District following an alleged attack on police officers and judicial service personnel by some irate youth.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, when police officers escorted a suspect to court in Kwame-Danso for judicial proceedings.
According to the police, the attack led to the temporary shutdown of the station as authorities assessed the security situation and worked to restore calm in the area.
The Regional Police Command said calm has since returned and engagements are ongoing with relevant stakeholders to ensure normal policing operations resume soon.
Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Techiman, the Bono East Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCoP) Shaibu Abubakari Sadique-Osei, described the incident as unfortunate.
He appealed to residents to support security agencies in maintaining peace and fighting crime rather than attacking police officers and other state officials carrying out their duties.
DCoP Sadique-Osei reaffirmed the Ghana Police Service’s commitment to protecting lives and property, urging residents to remain law-abiding.
He added that the Regional Police Command was working with the Police Headquarters in Accra to facilitate the reopening of the Kwame-Danso Police Station once the security situation is fully assessed.
