Management of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has introduced strict measures to curb reckless driving and dangerous vehicle displays during student election campaigns and celebrations on campus.
The move follows growing concerns over incidents involving excessive speeding, unsafe driving practices and vehicle processions associated with student activities, particularly after the declaration of election results.
In a statement, the university warned that any student found engaging in such acts will face disciplinary action in line with its rules and regulations.
As part of the new measures, KNUST Security Services have been directed to stop and impound vehicles involved in reckless driving. Students participating in such activities will also be apprehended and handed over to the police for further action.
The university said the identities of individuals involved will be established and appropriate internal sanctions applied.
Management stressed that the measures are aimed at protecting the lives and property of students, staff and other members of the university community.
Students have been urged to celebrate responsibly and avoid actions that could endanger lives or damage the reputation of the institution.
The directive takes immediate effect.
