The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has announced revised reopening dates for the 2026/2027 academic year.
In an official notice issued by the Office of the Registrar on Wednesday, the university said fresh students are expected to report on Thursday, October 15, while continuing students will return on Saturday, October 17.
The school postponed the reopening of the university for the 2026/2027 academic year indefinitely due to the ongoing strike by the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA).
The reopening, initially scheduled for Tuesday, October 13, 2026, has been put on hold because of the strike’s impact on the university’s operations and administration.
However, management has said the change in decision follows an emergency Executive Committee meeting held on Wednesday, October 14, 2026.
Lectures for both fresh and continuing students are scheduled to begin on Monday, October 19, 2026.
The notice, signed as Official Notice No. 4/26, urged students, parents, and guardians, as well as other stakeholders, to take note of the revised arrangements.
The university also expressed appreciation to stakeholders for their understanding, patience, and cooperation.
