Member of Parliament for Assin Central constituency has promised to reward the security man who exposed the matron of the Ghana Senior High School (SHS), Comfort Oduro Bruce who allegedly stole some foodstuffs meant for students under the free SHS policy.
Mr. Kofi Kanjagan, the chief security man of the school popularly called GHANASS in the Eastern regional capital, Koforidua on November 16, 2017 at 7 pm caught the woman when she and the driver (one Alfred) was transporting the foodstuffs with the Regional Ghana Education Service vehicle with registration number, GN 6717-15.
He revealed that, Madam Comfort who was transferred from Krobo-Odumase Girls’ SHS to the school last year had been stealing foodstuffs meant to feed GHANASS students – particularly the first years, as part of the government’s Free SHS policy – and selling them outside on daily basis.
“The matron packed the big truck with sacks of gari, cartons of milk, rice, tins of Milo, cartons of tomatoes, among other items” Mr. Kanjagan told Accra-based Oman FM.
The issue became murkier when the security man accused the headmaster of the school, Rev Abraham Osei Donkor of cover up by keeping a committee report on the issue on his drawer and has refused to take action on it.
The Eastern Regional Police Command has taken over the matter and has invited the matron, headmaster and chief security for investigations.
Impressed with the action of Kofi Kanjagan, Ken Agyapong on Adom TV’s political discussion programme, Badwam pledged to give him GH₵5000.
He could not fathom why right thinking people will divert food meant for students especially beneficiaries of the free SHS policy.
The outspoken Assin Central MP lauded the security man for leading such fight to expose the corrupt officials in the school.
Ken Agyapong vowed to follow up on the matter to ensure the perpetrators are brought to book.
