Highlife musician K.K. Fosu is making a fresh push into politics, announcing his intention to contest the Akuapem North parliamentary seat as an independent candidate in the 2028 general election.
The musician, who previously shelved his political plans ahead of the 2024 elections following a motor accident, says he is now ready to make a return and compete for the seat.
Speaking on Asempa Showbiz with Adu Kumi, K.K. Fosu expressed confidence in his chances, insisting that neither the influence of incumbent MP Sammy Awuku nor the backing of a political party would stop him from winning the constituency.
“If Sammy Awuku likes, he should leave the NPP and come to meet me face-to-face. I am going as independent candidate,” he affirmed.
K.K. Fosu said he is prepared to face Sammy Awuku in the 2028 race, whether the MP contests on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) or chooses to run independently.
He further argued that party affiliation alone would not determine the outcome of the election, claiming that voters would ultimately decide based on the candidate they trust.
On why he is so confident in his victory, the musician said the NPP cannot change the fortunes of the elections, as the “party is dead”.
With his latest declaration, K.K. Fosu appears set for another political showdown as he prepares to trade the microphone for the campaign trail ahead of the 2028 elections.
