The Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Asomah Cheremeh has denied instigating the assault on the controversial New Patriotic Party (NPP), Brong Ahafo Regional Youth Organizer, Kwame Baffoe aka Abronye DC.
Abronye DC who has expressed interest in contesting for the National Youth Organizer position of the party, was on Saturday afternoon beaten severely at Atebubu where he was scheduled to meet with some executives of the party.
He accused the confidant of the Regional Minister, one Jafaru Yakubu of leading the assaulting on him, suspecting it had the blessing of the Minister.
Abronye was said to have been pounced on by some angry members of his party over some comments he made attacking the Brong Ahafo Regional Minister, Kweku Asomah-Cheremeh.
The angry party supporters vandalized his vehicle but was rescued by some good Samaritans and rushed him to the Hospital where he is currently on admission receiving treatment.
He suffered serious injuries including a fractured arm.
Spokesperson for the Regional Minister, Maxwell Mahama rubbished Abronye’s claims of the Regional Minister being involved in the assault on him, adding that Hon. Asoma Cheremeh a lawyer by profession and a law abiding citizen will not encourage criminal acts and lawlessness.
According to him, his information is that Abronye was rather beaten by the mob because he refused to apologize to the Brong Ahafo Regional Chief Imam, Alhaji Abdul Kadiri after he alleged that the latter and the former Regional Minister, Eric Opoku had drunk soft drinks to the tune of GHC 50,000.
The Regional Chief Imam’s office had reportedly held a press conference and asked Abronye to apologize for his false claims. The youth group then decided to teach him a lesson and upon hearing he was in the area, they struck beating him mercilessly.

  1. I am deeply disappointed that some people will take the laws of Ghana into their hands to teach someone a lesson because he has insulted a respectable member of the society. I am calling on law enforcement agency of Ghana to arrest all the people involved this illegal act immediately.
