Ghanaian artist Sharon Dede Padi has revealed that leaf-print art has become her signature style following her achievement of the Guinness World Record for the World’s Largest Leaf-Print Painting.

The record-breaking artwork featured leaves arranged to create a massive print of the Ghanaian flag, symbolising the nation’s rich heritage, including its history, natural vegetation, mineral wealth, and the resilience of its people.

Speaking on Accra-based UTV, Padi explained that the leaf-print technique now defines her cultural paintings.

“After winning the world record for the largest leaf-print printing, I have now infused leaf-print into my cultural paintings. It has now become my signature,” she said.

She added that her initiative goes beyond artistic expression, with plans to engage in educational and community outreach programs, particularly for children. Through her art, she aims to raise awareness about sustainability, biodiversity, and environmental protection.

“It is not just about painting art pieces; it is also about impacting lives and teaching the next generation how we can protect our environment,” she explained.

Padi believes that combining creativity with environmental advocacy will help promote a deeper appreciation of nature while preserving Ghana’s cultural and ecological heritage.

The Guinness World Records-certified artwork measures 54.33 square metres and presents a vibrant visual narrative of Ghana’s history, culture, and identity using natural elements.

Created with individual leaf prints from a variety of plants, including neem, plantain, and other indigenous greenery, the monumental piece transforms natural elements into a storytelling medium. Each leaf type represents different communities, traditions, and landscapes across Ghana, symbolising the deep connection between the country’s people and their environment.
