The Ghana National Information for All Programme (IFAP) Committee has set up a five-member Resource Mobilization Sub-Committee.

Its job is to raise funds for the implementation of the IFAP Action Plan.

The decision came at the Committee’s third meeting, chaired by the Deputy Administrator of the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications (GIFEC), Mrs Nana Akyaa Amoah-Amissah.

Members reviewed the Action Plan’s priority areas and identified major funding gaps.

These include support for Community Information Centres, information resources accessible to persons with disabilities, and ICT laboratories for special schools.

The new Sub-Committee will develop and implement a resource mobilization strategy aligned with the Action Plan.

It will also build partnerships with potential funders and mobilize the resources needed to turn the Committee’s commitments into tangible results.

The Sub-Committee draws its members from the Committee’s member institutions. The IFAP Secretariat will provide coordination and support.

MIL campaign ahead of Global MIL Week

The Committee also discussed plans for a joint Media and Information Literacy (MIL) and anti-disinformation campaign.

Activities are expected to align with Global Media and Information Literacy Week, marked worldwide from 24 to 31 October.

Inclusion as a shared responsibility

Members called for inclusion to become a shared responsibility across their institutions’ programmes.

Representatives committed to building accessibility into how their programmes and activities are designed and delivered.

The Committee further agreed to coordinate its communications more closely, so that the collective work and impact of IFAP reach a wider audience.

The Committee stressed that no single institution can close Ghana’s information gap alone.

It said collaboration, resource mobilization and coordinated action are key to building a more informed, inclusive and resilient Ghana.

IFAP is an intergovernmental programme of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

It promotes universal access to information and knowledge.
